Note about composting during the novel COVID-19 outbreak:
As Oregon State has transitioned to remote instruction and is following social distancing guidelines, Environmental Sciences Club will be suspending the CEOAS Composting program until further notice.
CEOAS Composting!
Our club is facilitating the composting system within the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences! Several composting buckets are placed within our college complex in convenient locations.
Why is composting important?
This project is extremely important to our college and our club! As the college of the environment, we have the responsibility to lead the university in sustainability, and what easier way than by composting! The club also has the opportunity to give back to our college and our environment with this project. We are helping to: reduce the carbon footprint of our college, become more environmentally friendly, and MAKE A DENT!
Where are the bins located?
The bins are located throughout the CEOAS buildings!
- BURT 193
- BURT 284
- BURT 326
- WLKN 208
What can go in the bins?
Where does the compost go?
The compost we collect is taken by Republic Services (our local waste disposal services) to Pacific Region Compost. This is a compost facility that collects organic wastes and changes it into a beneficial soil additive (fertilizer)! It is available for both public drop-off and purchase.
