10am-2pm on Saturday, October 8th (THIS Saturday!)
Meet in front of Wilkinson beforehand.
Those who showed interest to do this at the meeting should get an email with more information from Alec. If you did not receive this email, please contact him at email@example.com for more information.
10am on Sunday, October 9th (THIS Sunday!)
Cleaning up Chintimi Park
This is a really cool way to get in touch with other on-campus groups early on. Partnering with other clubs/organizations only makes a bigger positive impact on the community. There’s power in numbers!
Transportation will need to be coordinated independently
For those of you with smartphones, feel free to download the Remind 101 app (you’ll get updates through the app). For those who would rather not download the app and/or do not have a smartphone, you will still get text updates.
We went over a spreadsheet with a list of volunteer opportunities happening throughout OSU and the Corvallis community (and beyond) that we can potentially pursue as a club, including dates/times, location, description of the project, and contact information.
This spreadsheet will be updated regularly as people bring their ideas and we learn about more opportunities. We’ll let you know when things get added.
PLEASE bring ideas or suggestions for volunteer work to the next meeting. Every voice is important, and we are aiming to make a real difference with our combined effort!
Expect a Doodle Poll to come out soon. This is where you’ll let us know which community service events you’d like to participate in. From there, we’ll decide which one(s) to pursue as a group!
GLOBAL ISSUE DISCUSSIONS (GIDs)
This is a super cool idea and I’m so excited about it (so thank you to the member(s) who suggested it. You’re awesome.)
We are aiming to have brief discussions about global issues every other meeting (maybe even every meeting!).
Club members can suggest ideas for GID’s at each meeting on a list. Ideally, the person who suggests the topic can bring an article or some points that they can use to stimulate the discussion the following meeting.
This is a truly invaluable opportunity to broaden our horizons about environmental issues, especially because our members come from all over the place. I hope we can bring this beautiful idea to fruition and make it the best it can be.
Amira has sent all of you a link to join her Eco-Challenge Week team. Go join it and have fun with it!
Make sure to click the link in the email and sign up before October 14th.
The more you check in to update your goals, the more points the team gets.
BRAINSTORMING FOR AN OUTING
Calling all Corvallis locals and upperclassmen!
If anyone has any ideas for local hikes, camping trips, etc., PLEASE share with the group next meeting!
Charles said it best when he said that our club should aim to “make a dent”. Making a dent should be a tenant of our club for the rest of this year.
There’s no better way to build community than coming together to do something for someone else. Let’s go make a difference!
