Tonight Bryan presented about coral bleaching at Great Barrier Reef. Corvallis, Walk for Water May 20th 8:30 am-1:30 pm. If you signed to volunteer for the Walk for Water event, you should have gotten a forwarded email from Alec. The event coordinator will send out more specific info as the date gets closer. If you’d like to still volunteer for a shift email the club. Camping- MEETING 5/18 @ 7PM Memorial day weekend the environmental sciences club will be camping at the Trask River Campground in Tillamook OR from May 27th – May 29th. A graduate student from the Integrative Biology Department reached out and was looking for an undergraduate student to help them with their research about a. The volunteer position requires some GIS experience, but they’re also looking for others to help out in the lab and there’s even an opportunity to join a study crew in the cascades this summer! Contact: [email protected] National get outdoors day! June 3rd The OSU Research Forest contacted the club asking if we were interested in volunteering in the National Get Outdoors Day! The event needs a variety of volunteers to work with kids and families in order to get them more comfortable being outdoors! Types of volunteer include, photographer, booth exhibitor, parking and traffic, outdoor community art project. The event is on Saturday June 3rd from 10am – 3 pm. This isn’t a club event but if you’re really interested and want to sign up immediately email [email protected] for a registration link.

March for Science April 22nd
Saturday, April 22nd (Earth Day!) both the city of Corvallis and Portland are marching for science. This is not a club event but if you’re interested in celebrating science and supporting scientific resources this would be an impactful way to celebrate Earth Day! At the booth we will have information about the club and have a composting demonstration/information. The Walk for Water event will occur in Corvallis to help raise awareness and money for the Corvallis Sister Cities Association relationship with Gondar, Ethiopia. If you are interested in setting up, participating in the event or clean up EMAIL ALEC DIRECTLY at [email protected] Trask River Campground May 27th – 29th Memorial day weekend the environmental sciences club will be camping at the Trask River Campground in Tillamook OR. Movie Night June 8th Like every term before, the meeting before finals week we will be having a movie break! The movie will be announced on when we get closer to the end of the term. End of Year Picnic June 10th Look forward to the end of the year picnic to celebrate all of our accomplishments we’ve completed as a club! As time gets closer we will have more details. T-Shirts Sally is working with local print shops to get us club t-shirts! We aim to have then either at the camping trip or at the picnic. Unfortunately, if you want a shirt each person will have to buy their own, but shirts should be about $10 maybe a little more. |
